There is not much to say... these were taken a while ago in a park while it was still cold and there was a lot of snow. We really enjoyed running around and throwing snow balls at each other.

I've been meaning to post this images forever but I've been waiting to order some prints of Savannah to put in the empty frames :S I finally ordered some nice pictures but they won't be here until the end of this week.
Anyway.... here is Savannah's room... We really wanted to give Savannah a pretty bedroom after Dominica and the Bahamas. She slept in a pack 'n play the whole time and was happy :) but as soon as her big bed arrived (in December) she couldn't go back to the pack 'n play. She LOVES her bed and even I wish I could sleep in there once in a while :)
I searched for the right bedding but couldn't find anything I really liked... so I bought some pretty fabric from frabric.com, grabbed my sewing machine and made her a duvet cover, quilt (semifinished) and flowery pillows. I think her bedding turned out well and we couldn't be any happier :)

This is a random picture of a tree I liked while searching for a nice location for an engagement photoshoot.

Savannah sat down by the tree and posed for me......I didn't have to ask :) it was her idea

Trip to Ecuador part 1 (Quito)

I am gonna try to post a lot of pictures I have from summer last year....The first two were taken at the airport in Miami while we were waiting for our connecting flight to Quito. Everything went well until I run out of gatorade and I could not fine any at the airport... they had everything but gatorade, I could not believe it.... Savannah loves gatorade and would not drink anything else, I bought like 5 bottles of water, juices, sport drinks and nothing worked... so I just had a thirsty girl until we got to Ecuador where I could finally get some for her. Now she is finally drinking more milk, water, finally likes orange juice and of course soda... we like the variety :)
The next pictures are from a trip to the park with my sister-in-law and her kids, Savannah loves her little cousins and gets excited every time we talk about Ecuador and her cousins :)

Michigan

Savannah and I have been in Michigan for 2 weeks now. We love being back in the States and the weather is okay... but last week it got really cold for a few days, I did not want to go out but we had to. Savannah looks so cute in her winter clothes and I've got more pictures of her in her winter clothes that I will post later. In the other hand Savannah has also become quite the photographer :) our point and shoot camera has become hers and she will not let us touch it without her permission :) she is so artistic =)

All of these were taken with my little lens, see how blurry the background is? that's what you get when you shoot with an aperture of 1.4, strange language for some... but love the results :)
Ben took a few pictures of me for my new photography website (a work in progress) and then we just had fun with the camera :)... there is one shot of me goofing around/dancing :D, and then Savannah pretending to be an airplane.

Lucayan National Park

This is Lucayan National Park. First we stopped at the underwater caverns. They are supposed to be the world's largest underground freshwater cavern system. We could only explore two of the caves which became exposed when a portion of the ground collapsed. After that we crossed the swamp on a board walk to Gold Rock Creek Beach, one of the most secluded beaches on the island, the water was really calm and shallow, perfect for me and Savannah :) We would go there more often but it's a little far from where we live and besides, we found another beach that's 5 minutes away from my place and is really shallow as well.

soo... these pictures are from July I think.... :) I'm so behind! I take a bunch of pictures and post almost nothing :) but here are some pics from a normal day... we go to the beach, let the girls run around, eat chips or cheetos... lots of fun! later that night Savannah got a hold of some peanut butter (the peterpan brand), it gave her a rush and a fat lip, poor girl! but luckely it usually goes down within 30-60 minutes :)

I haven't posted anything in a while so I've set a goal of posting at least twice a week. Since I'm tired today i'll just post a cute picture of Savannah hugging my friends' dog, they just look too cute... I've got more pictures with the dogs but I'll post them later.
By the way... we went snorkeling today and I saw a nurse shark... it was 6-8 feet long, best snorkeling I've ever done!

here is Savannah's fat lip. I took her mattress out of the pack'n play so she could play with it in the living room but the first thing she did is go and climb into the plack'n play, there wasn't a soft mattress to cushion the fall

Our friends found this abandoned house by their apartment and when she showed it to me I immediately fell in love with it. I liked it so much that I decided to have family pictures taken there. My friend Leslie was so kind to take these ones for us; she is building her photography portfolio and sadly is leaving for Utah and then Michigan tomorrow, we'll miss you and thanks again for the pictures... we love the all!

Ben and I celebrated our 4th year anniversary on May 20th. Our friend Tamara watched Savannah while we went on an early date to the Garden of the Grove. We had fun trying (Ben) to catch lizards, he finally caught a curly tail but I think he could have caught a few more if the place wasn't so crowded

These pictures are from like 5 weeks ago. We went to Taino beach for some fun and this time Ben took a break from studying and I'm glad he did. He had the change to go parasailing for the first time, I was allowed to come on the boat for moral support and of course so I could take some pictures of Ben.

Here are the pictures of Savannah's birthday party. As you can see the theme was Hello Kitty, very cute! we played for a little while outside and then came back inside because it was hot. Everything went pretty well and the best part is that Savannah had lots of fun! she discovered "little people" and LOVES it.

Every weekend night there is party and music at port Lucaya, there is people everywhere having fun and dancing. As soon as Savannah hears the music she runs to the dance floor and starts groooving to the music, sometimes she just wants to be held and have mommy or daddy dance for her :)

I cannot believe my baby just turned TWO, it seems like it was yesterday that she arrived into our lives. We are so greatful to have her with us, she is a sweet little girl and we love her so much! she brings so much joy and happines to our lives. Happy Birthday Savannah! :)

Yay!! a laundry room. We didn't have it in Dominica, we had to send our laundry with the laundry people on Monday and then wait until Wednesday to get it back, it was a little frustraiting and Savannah's favorite blanket (the one she sleeps with) never got washed, so... this is a big deal to us :)

okay, so here is an update... We enjoyed Dominica until the end of April, them took a plane to Miami and stayed there for a whole week with our friends Hannah and Dan, then took the Discovery Cruise Line to Grand Bahama where we'll be staying for 8 months until Ben finishes his 2nd year of medical school.
Here are some pics of our five hour trip on the ferry to the Bahamas.

Everyone took naps while I took pictures :) actually... I put the camera down for a while and took a nap as well

Last Monday Savannah started feeling a little sick. She threw up and had some diarhea, so I immediately took her to the university health center. The nurse took her temperature and it was normal, therefore she figured Savannah was fine and healthy. The next day I took her to see the doctor again and she prescribed some medicine for her congestion. We go back on Thursday because Savannah isn't improving and the doctor says that she's got gastroenteritis, and that she didn't prescribe anything for it on Tuesday because we didn't say anything about diarrhea and vomiting, which wasn't true! She checked her notes and did find that we had mentioned it. At this point Savannah is dehydrated so they put in an IV. Savannah pulled it out so we started giving her 1 oz of water every 15 minutes, she cries everytime because she just wants to sleep. After 2 hours she finally has a wet diaper, and we can finally go home. At home we keep up the routine, but Savannah starts throwing up again. At 2 am we decide that she is not getting enough fluids so we call the EMS and take her back to the health center so she can have an IV put back in. Then they send us to the hospital in Roseau, which is an hour way from where we live, because they have the last pediatric IV fluid bag left on the island (they gave her other mixes of fluids before, but this one had glucose in it, which she really needed). After they started her on the pediatric IV fluid we saw big improvement in Savannah. She was a little more alert and seemed to have a little more energy. Anyway, we stayed at the hospital for a day and an half until Savannah looked and behaved more like herself. We were so happy that we could finally come back home with a healthier baby. It was really scary having her so sick, especially because the medical care here is not adequate and is so primitive. What made things even more stressful was that Ben had to prepare for his 2nd test, I think he missed like 3 days of school and studying. Today he took his test, and it seems like he did okay, now my poor honey is finally resting after a very intense week.
Our little one is not 100 % yet, but she is getting there. She's lost a lot of weight, and now we are working on getting her little folds back.

Screw Spa

This place has a bunch of hot springs and stuff, but since we had already played in the hot springs in Trafalgar Falls we decided to stay outside, which I don't regret because Savannah had a great time running around, throwing rocks, playing with a turtle, ducks and of course dancing.

I love how she moves her arms when she dances!

there was a big speaker outside and they were playing nice caribbean music, and as you can tell Savannah loved it!

Trafalgar Falls

After Titou Gorge we went to Trafalgar Falls, which are beautiful twin waterfalls. After a short walk we arrived at the nice viewing platform, we took some pictures there and then continued our hike to find some nice hot springs. I think the hot springs were my favorite part of the whole trip, the water was so nice and warm, and even Savannah got in there to play in the water.

Titou Gorge

Titou Gorge is a small waterfall deep in a water-filled gorge. Titoe means "little throat gorge" you literally swim up the throat of a mountain to a waterfall located inside the gorge, the water is very cold. A quick scene from the Pirated of the Caribbean "wold's end" was filmed here. I got close enough to see a little bit of the waterfall but then I panicked because I couldn't touch the bottom of the pool and swam back to the entrance.

Yesterday the sunset was so beautifully yellow, so I grabbed my camera and went up to the roof of our apartment.
This first one is the original photo, and then I played with photoshop and added some tints to the pictures, I still can't decide which one is my favorite. Do you have a favorite?

Today Savannah and I went on a trip to Trafalgar falls, and took a whole bunch of pictures. Today I'm only going to post some head-shots that I took of Jacquelle's kids, she's got 5 little ones, the oldest is six and the youngest is one, they are all really cute! I also took one of the whole family, except keven, with a cool colorful building as the background.

For valentine's day Ben took me on a trip to Secret Beach, it's a secluded beach and you can only get there by boat, but of course we decided to tough it out and paddle all the way there. We didn't know what it looked like, so we missed it and kept paddling for another 30 minutes to the next kind of sandy beach, we thought it was Secret Beach, but it wasn't. Anyway, we snorkeled for a little while there, and then headed back to Coconut beach, by the time we got back we are so tired, I think we had been kayaking for a few hours with only a 20 minute rest at the beach. Later in the day we went to KFC and Rituals Coffee Shop for dinner. They had just opened the day before, so it was a big deal, They were sooo crowded, but we had fun watching Savannah hang from the tables :)

Trip to Cabrits with friends

Every Thursday I get together with some friends from church to do something fun with the little ones, this time we went back to Cabrits and hiked a trail that I hadn't seen before, we saw tons of hermit crabs and Savannah even got to hold one of them

This last week we dressed up and went to a party the university was throwing for the students. While we were there I asked Savannah if she would give me a kiss but she refused, after trying for a while I promised her that we would go to the playground if she gave me a kiss and she finally did, and of course we went to the playground afterwards. It still amazes me how much more she can understand now. Once of got dark we headed back home and played with bubbles, yay it was fun!

After Ben's first test we decided that he needed a break so we went to Cabrits, we stopped at Fort Shirley which is a 18th-century British garrison. It was nice to have some time as a family to relax and play.

the caribbean ocean is usually really calm but for some reason las Saturday it had some big waves, so we figured it was too crazy for Savannah to get in there in her floaty. Instead we went to the pool where we found some of our friends celebrating a little boy's birthday, we had a good time!

We were trying to get some pictures with big waves in the background, and Tamara got a very big one, she got wet lol

a while ago we went to the river with my friend Jacquelle and her kids. Savannah discovered that throwing rocks into the river was a fun game. This place was cool and shady, so now we know where we'll be going when it's too hot.

Jacquelle also enjoys taking pictures, and here she is photographing her kids.

Little Ben tried to build this house several times, but every time he was done one of the younger kids would step on it and destroy it, so he moved to one of the corners out of everyone's way, and here is the end product, he was really proud of it!

Carib Territory and Atlantic

After the Emerald Pool Bruno drove us to the Carib Territory, which is located on the east side of the island (Atlantic side). This is where the indigenous native people live. I read: "they tend to keep to themselves and their culture has remained very much unchanged compared to other areas of the island. They are very warm and friendly people, living in peace and harmony, relying on the earth and the sea for a living. Many of their women in the ‘Carib Territory’ weave beautiful baskets that are sold to tourist as souvenirs" I got some small souvenirs, but I wish I had gotten some bigger baskets, maybe we'll go back before we leave the island for some beautiful baskets, I guess we'll do this if we have enough room in our suitcases of barrels :)
We also stopped to look at the Atlantic ocean, big waves are a beautiful thing, we miss them (the Caribbean side hardly have any waves, and that's where we live)

We bought some cassava bread which really reminds me of yucca, I think the cassava and yucca roots are related, anyway here is how they make it:
To make the Casabe the bitter yucca root must be prepared correctly, as the root is poisonous (containing hydrocyanic acid). The outside brown skin and the hard white layer underneath are pealed away. The core is also discarded and only the inner white flesh is used. The inner white flesh is grated using guayos. Then is soaked. The juice must be squeezed out either in a long canoe type vessel called a matapee or wrung out in a towel. to remove the poisonous starch. It is then dried slightly in the open air. Then it needs to be pounded and sifted to make a flour. This flour is then spread on a large, heated, flat round iron pan or mold about 1/8 to ¼ inch thick. Then it is baked atop a special shaped oven, called a buren griddle, until set using moderate heat. It is then flipped over and cooked until done and left to dry in the sun until it is crispy.
It was yummy!

this is the beautiful famous Emerald Pool, yay! Some one had told me before coming to the island that this pool was amazing and she was telling the truth. Last semester all the trips were planned during the week, so I wasn't able to go because I couldn't leave Savannah at home with Ben (he's got school), so when I heard that they were planning this trip on a Saturday I was really excited. My honey was so kind to stay home so I could go and fully enjoy this trip.

I enjoyed taking pictures of everyone jumping into the water, sooo fun!

Last Saturday I was able to go on one of the trips the university plans. It was a group of about 10 people, and we all had so much fun together. First we stopped really quick at Jacko Falls, this place is sooo beautiful!

Chelsie and Tamara were the only brave ones to get in the water this time, it seems like the water was really cold!

there are many things that you can't find for cheap on the island, like snacks, cereal and our favorite pasta. For example a box of cheerios is $11 here, $3-4 in the States, isn't that crazy?! So... we shipped a whole bunch of food from Miami, and it arrived here on Friday, YAY!!! We can finally have good cereal for breakfast!!! we also got several bags of chocolate chips and Savannah is loving it!!!

A few years ago I would have never thought that I would touch a snake, but I married a snake and lizard lover :) so here we are finding and touching snakes.

I enjoy going to the beach a lot more now that we got a new floaty for Savannah, it's foldable and it also inflates and deflates very easily. Ben and I took turns to go snorkeling and we saw lots of pretty fish, I wish we had a water proof camera so I could show you.

Last weekend we went to little Sophia's birthday party at the pool, we were having lots of fun until we all had to leave because it started raining.

Our vacation in San Antonio lasted a little longer than planned. On January 5th we went to the airport with 8 pieces of luggage to only find out that we had missed our flight, yeap, we misread our itinerary and the flight we thought was leaving at 12:30pm actually left at 9:30am, soooo we got to hang out with the family for another 4 days and we enjoyed it very much. We took Savannah to the zoo and to the children's museum, she loved it!!!

Christmas and New Years in Texas

On December 17th Ben, Savannah and I finally reunited after being apart for three weeks (Savannah and I were in Ecuador). We spent Christmas and New Years with Ben's family in Texas. It was so nice being back in the States after 4 months. Savannah had a blast with her cousins and all of the family, she even learned and chanted all of their names. She specially enjoyed going outside, I think grandpa played with her in the backyard every day. She jumped on the trampoline, rode the toy horse, went down the slide, played in the swing, and enjoyed running around. The weather was nice most of the time, and we all loved grandma's food, cookies, rolls, hot chocolate, fruit..... and more cookies

two days in California

So, during the break my friend/sister Genny flew me to California for her sister Katie's wedding. I never thought that I would see her and Debbie so soon after moving out of Utah. Genny is one of the most wonderful generous person in the whole world, and Debbie is always so sweet and fun. We had a great time there, and I'm so happy I got to hang out with them, meet their parents, siblings, and cute little kylee.
Genny's perfect match, Dan, also took pictures of the wedding and got all of the pics you can see here of me.

Long post #1! (visit to Ecuador)

So, I've got tons of pictures to post. At the end of November Savannah and I visited our family in Ecuador, then I met Ben in Texas for the holidays, during our time in Texas I went to California by myself to photograph one of my best friend's sister's wedding, and now we are finally back on the island.
This time I'll post about my visit to Ecuador. We were there for three weeks, and I can't believe how short the visit felt. It was nice seeing my family after a few years. I met new nieces and nephews, and the best of all, Savannah got to meet the latino side of the family and play like crazy with all her cousins.

This little one is my niece Amy, she is three years old and could easily be a model :)

Savannah spent so much time with her cousin Amy, they were always affectionate with each other.

I didn't teach her this! One day I was just watching her play, and all the sudden I see her holding this little doll, kissing her and putting her to sleep. Sooo cute!

My friend Raquel and I have gotten in the habit of going to the beach every morning at around 10am, when we get the best shade. The girls love going to the beach and they like playing with the rocks. Savannah also enjoys drinking the salt water, I try keeping her from doing it, but she usually wins.

The other day Savannah was trying to open the door in our dark living room (of course she couldn't because she is not tall enough yet) and I wanted to take some pics of her in action. Since it was dark I decided to point a small light at her. While trying to reach for the door-nob she noticed me pointing the light at her, and all the sudden she turned around and came running after the light. It was really cute!

The other day I took Savannah to the pool for the first time. She actually loved it and now we enjoy going every chance we get.

A while ago Savannah didn't want to take a nap, so she didn't get to go to sleep until 7 pm, she was so tired that she even fell asleep with us on our bed. This had never happened before since she is used to only sleeping on her own crib.

We had no idea what Savannah would be for halloween, but my friend Raquel came up with the idea of little butterflies. We made two pairs of cool wings and pinned them to colorful dresses. Raquel called Savannah and Elena little pini pons, which are cartoon characters in Spain.
First we went to the ward activity, and then we headed to the ross spouses organization halloween party for the kids. It was really fun taking Savannah around in her cute little costume

Tale of the hurricane

A few weeks ago, the tail of hurricane Omar passed over the island. The sea is normally very calm here with almost no waves, but the day of the hurricane, huge waves came crashing into the shore.

Yummy bread!

I can make bread!!! Jequelle, the relief society president taught us how to make a yummy loaf of bread. This is so useful since you can't find good bread here on the island. I've tried making it several times and I'm finally becoming an expert.
